Real Estate License Law Reform Passes!

After years of work to update RCW 18.85, legislation to revise Washington state's Real Estate License Law, HB 2778, was approved overwhelmingly by the House and Senate and was signed by the governor last week.

The standards of practice within the industry have dramatically changed over the years and needed significant revision in order to better protect and serve Washington real property buyers and sellers as well as to enhance the standards, training and oversight for Washington's real estate professional.

The updated law will not be in effect until July 2010. The delayed implementation is necessary because the new requirements will call for a large number of rule changes.

Stay tuned for description of what will be changing.
